Since forming in 2003, New York's Exemption has brought the heavy and bludgeoned all in its path. This 2007 release is full of punishing grooves, slicing riffs, and tons of melody.

As soon as this 11 track, 73 minute album begins, the listener is in for an entertaining ride. This is very heavy stuff, but with a great sense of melody and with lots of great riffs. At times, the band almost comes across as a more metallic Alice in Chains. This comparison is very evident on the second track, "Tiempo Cura Tiempo Mata." But these guys are not stuck on one sound, there is variety, and it is a cohesive variety. There are multiple tempo changes throughout this release. The lead work of guitarist Nick Lee is very tasty and economical also. This guy can shred, but he does so with finesse and ease.

This is sure to quench many a hard rocker's thirst. These guys can write some amazing songs. There is something for everyone in this release - riffs, melody, and memorable songs.
Where the f*ck is your album!?!?!? 2/1/2009

Explanation?

Okay so we have been promising you guys a new cd since the summer. Of course we were never purposely deceiving you but it's been a hectic busy time for the three of us and plans just keep having to change.

Originally we were putting out a 5 song EP. We recorded the songs and finished them...dead. Right after we finished Ray & Double Vision Studios upgraded their studio to a much more professional and wonderful ProTools set up. At one point or another plans for an EP became plans for another full length album. After recording Trench Foot with the new setup we realized that we have created a dilemma in that these new songs aren't going to sound like the original recordings for the EP. Hmm...so what we are currently trying to figure out is where we want to go with it. Do we release an EP and then start an album from scratch? Rerecord the old songs? Try to mix them all to sound the same and get it out asap?

Well...we're still trying to answer these questions, but we are writing new material that we are sure fans of our catalogue thus far will enjoy. These new songs will also further distance ourselves from all of the bullshit "metal" and general rock and roll tomfoolery that surrounds you day-to-day.

We appreciate everybody who continues to follow us as a band and come out to shows. I've stopped booking so consistently recently so we can get our own personal lives in order and start to concentrate more on our direction with the new album. However, we have a few shows right now (NOV 20th @ CWPOST and NOV 28th @ Stingers Pub), and a few more are in the works. Anyone putting together a show that wants Exemption to play can message us or e-mail me at killnicklee@aim.com.

Keep it real.
